What can I expect my results to look like?
Think warm golden undertones, as opposed to the traditional results of typical self-tanners that may make skin look darker but also ‘orange-y’, streaky and/or fake. This is a subtle but visible result that will continue to build with contined use but never build to an unnatural look. You can continue to use as your every day moisturizer and body care.
Will it smell like typical self-tanner?
This product does not contain typical self-tanning agents like DHA or erythrulose. It therefore does not smell like self-tanner. Instead, it has base notes of the umami, earthy scent of Torula, like any natural carrier oil. Our scented version with our signature scent Coconut Moon has top and middle notes of violet, tonka, milk and almond and warm, unfolding scents of vanilla. It’s reminiscent of your favourite tropical getaway while still being perfect for every day.
Will it streak or leave me with orange palms?
This product increases the appearance of golden undertones in a completely new way, unique from how self-tanners work. You therefore can use on dry skin, 2x daily as you would your regular moisturizer. In fact, its main function is to provide deep hydration and skin nourishment as your daily body hydration. It blends easily but for best use, we recommend applying to dry skin as opposed to wet or damp skin. You should not expect any orange streaks on dry skin areas, or your palms. You do not have to ‘prep’ the skin for ideal application.
Should I use this on my face?
This product was created for use on the body and we did not evaluate its effects on your face. It contains ingredients that might make hyperpigmentation appear darker. If you have hyperpigmentation on your face, or if you have melasma, you may not like the results for your face.
What kind of fragrances does the scented version use? What does it smell like?
We wanted this product to transport you to your best version of a tropical getaway and decided to use a small amount of synthetic fragrance. In keeping with upcoming EU and Health Canada regulations, we list any the 26 fragrance ingredients that could be possible allergens that are contained in the product over the concentration of .00001%. This provides greater transparency for those who have concerns of skin allergies to fragrances.
We would describer our signature scent Coconut Moon as vanilla gourmand forward with notes of jasmine, violet, tonka bean, almond and milk. It’s lightly fragranced and the natural umami scent of Torula still shines through.
